| This Colemill Baron has stunning performance as well as cosmetics. The 550 engines really make this light weight B55 a speed machine. The winglets really improve the climb and high altitude performance. The wingspan is two feet longer than the standard B55 plus the vertical height of the winglets. The most noticeable difference down low is the stability. The winglets make it feel like you have a yaw damper. Cruise speed is 205 kts. Single engine service ceiling without the winglets is 13,000'. The winglets are supposed to increase this, but Colemill doesn't publish the numbers. In 2003 the conversion, winglets, paint and glass were done at a cost of over $145,000. The owner was a business man who had businesses in Belize and the U.S. He flew the plane across the Gulf of Mexico to commute between businesses. The plane has always been U.S. registered. All of the annuals in the last six years have been done by Raytheon Service Centers, most in the U.S. and a couple in Guatemala. The web inspection is on a 100 hr cycle due to a small stress crack in a non critical area which was allowed to be stopped drilled. Logbooks are complete and there are no liens on the aircraft. |
