Paint, Glass and Interior:
Paint, interior and glass were done by Oxford in Maine in 2007. Cost was over $107,000. Four color paint is still like new. All glass was new and still looks like new. Interior is top grade Italian leather with Skandia insulation. Side panels are real wood. Everything was done including both baggage compartments. Glass plate is perfectly clear and like new. It is the best looking, highest quality paint and interior I have ever seen in a piston engine plane.

Comments:
Everything on this Aztec works perfectly. In 2007, it went through a comprehensive restoration. It still looks and operates better than new. They never had one this nice come out of the door from Piper. Exceptional history and maintenance. These are big planes with reliable Lycoming non turbo 250 hp engines. These are longer and taller than a Beech 58 Baron with a wingspan 18” shorter. The cabin is exceptionally large and comfortable. Much larger than a Beech Baron or Cessna 310. Stall speed is 56 kts, VMC is 64 kts. Approach speed is 70-75. Over the numbers at 65-70. Safe with excellent short field performance. I fly this into and out of the Colorado mountains IFR at 16,000-17,000’ MEAs. A big and comfortable cabin comes at a cost. 70% cruise yields 170 kts on 11 gallons per side, for an endurance of 8 hours with the big tanks. With four hours of fuel on board, you can put 1350 lbs in the cabin. With 8 hours of fuel (177 gal full fuel), your payload is 810 lbs in the cabin. With its large rudder and tail, it rides turbulence very well. A yaw dampner is not required.
