Comments:
I have owned at least a couple of dozen Mooneys, and this is my favorite. The big engine, long body Mooneys are also great, but the short body MSE with the speed mods, is the best balanced. The IO-360 Lycoming is one of the most reliable engines made, and cheap to overhaul. Last year I had one overhauled for $24,000 by a very good shop. These usually make the TBO of 2,000 hrs. This makes the engine reserve at $12/per hour. Cylinder work is rarely needed to make TBO. The avionics on this one are also my favorite. Some old (DME) with new. The Aspen integrated with the GTN 750 and KFC-150 makes flying a coupled GPS approach fun and easy. Select GPSS on the Aspen, couple it to the KFC-150, and let it go. If you get high, pop the speedbrakes instead of being a throttle hockey. Having an air data computer show the winds is really helpful, especially in the mountains as you approach a pass. TAS is 155 kts at 7,000' burning 10 gph. At 11,000 you will see 150 kts TAS at 8 gph. With 64 gallons, you have incredible endurance
